BiANCA SCAGLiONE, Jennifer Hudson, Elle Varner, Adam Lambert, Christina Aguilera, Mayaeni, Michael Ann Azoulai, The Michael Miller Crusade, Linda Perry, Alicia Keys, Courtney Love, Celine Dion, Daniel Powter, The Polyamoris Affair, Bigelf, Zoe Scott, Victoria Scott, Jessarae, Miley Cyrus, Lou Gramm, Steve Plunkett, Fred Coury, Jeff Silbar, The Kristoffer Carter Show and Ashley Ballard. I am also putting the finishing touches on my first solo album entitled “the gospel of gloom and gladness” which was produced by Lenny Waronker ... A Brief History - I was about 10 years old when I was exploring the hiding places of a new house we recently moved into when I found a BB King record called “live at the regal” in the back of a closet. I plugged in my green fliptop mono record player and instantly fell in love with BB’s guitar playing, his voice and the blues. I spent the next couple years studying BB’s riffs and pretty much taught myself how to play guitar from that record. To this day BB is without a doubt my all time favorite guitarist along with Jimmy Page, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Ritchie Blackmore, Billy Gibbons and Brian May. Shortly after that while in the 7th grade my 8th grade friend Joey Belladonna who was a drummer, talked me into playing bass for his band MEDUSA because they already had two guitarists. I agreed, and so bass it was for me in my very first band. We played at a few school dances and did a whole lot of jamming but I switched back to guitar quickly after losing interest in the bass. Throughout middle school and high school I would play and sing with many of my own bands like BLUE STATIC, SUNNQUEST, and SNEAKER STAR. Joey went on to sing for ANTHRAX and i got my first big break when Billy Sheehan asked me to replace guitarist Mitch Perry in his band TALAS after seeing me perform with my group ZILLION, a band that often opened for Talas. I toured, recorded and wrote with TALAS for about two years. As we were preparing to release TALAS' fourth album on Gold Mountain Records DAVID LEE ROTH asked billy to join his new solo band. TALAS disbanded shortly after and with the help of my friend Mike Varney I started a glam rock group called ROCKCANDY. Rockcandy was spin off from a previous NUNO BETTENCOURT band called SINFUL and myself. We released one record (yes vinyl LP) entitled “sucker for a pretty face” and had a semi regional hit with a song called “ball and chain”. After rockcandy, I started a group called BABYBLUE who released a six song EP entitled “American Boys” and from babyblue I went on Tour with singer Michael Monroe from HANOI ROCKS in support of his first solo album “not fakin it” on mercury records. While hanging out at the cat club in NYC one evening, I bumped into a long time friend of mine, Fred Coury from the band CINDERELLA invited me to come to his studio and write a bit. Fred and I wrote and recorded a bunch of great songs together and we wound up moving from NY to LA to form a band with Stephen Pearcy of RATT called ARCADE. Arcade signed to Epic records and the band released 2 cd’s for the label. In the 90's I also spent much time playing with bands and artists such as TIM KARR, DAVID YOUNG, CELL MATES, SUPERSONIC LOVE MACHINE, SOUL KITCHEN, BUTCHIE SWAINE AND THE UNBORN, TRANSISTER, BUTTERFLY JONES and THE CECIL PRUDEHOLME PROJECT. All the best, Johnny
